We are seeking a Deli Supervisor for our Macs Place Delicatessen & Bakery in our Barack Obama Plaza, Moneygall

The Barack Obama Plaza is part of The Plaza Group which is one of Ireland’s leading independent motorway and primary route services group. Other sites include the Tipperary Town Plaza, The Galway Plaza Junction 16 on the M6, Kinnegad Plaza, Mallow N20 Plaza, The Portlaoise Plaza and the Charlestown Service Station in Co Mayo as part of the destination motor services businesses developed on key national roads.

The service station facilities in the Barack Obama Plaza includes a Convenience store, Several Car and HGV fuelling pumps, Supermac’s Restaurant, Papa John’s Pizza, SuperSubs Salad and Sub Sandwich offering, Macs Place Deli, and a branded Barista Cafe, together with customer seating, toilets and washroom facilities, free wifi, and parking.

As an additional element recognising the historic significance of Moneygall as the birthplace of the ancestors of the President of the United States, the Plaza provides a Community Facility for the use of the people of Moneygall. The Barack Obama Community Facility houses on going displays of both historic and current material marking the relationship between Moneygall and the United States.

Job: We are seeking an experienced person to supervise a busy hot / cold delicatessen and carvery, fresh cream counter & bakery. The ideal candidate should be driven with a flair for fresh food.

Job Description:

  • Ensures the deli area provides a variety of fresh, well presented foods that are of the highest quality at all times of the day whilst operational.
  • Able to cook simple dishes, familiar with commercial kitchens, has appetite to learn new methods and take direction from management.
  • Responsible for the day to day operation of the hot & cold deli’s and the fresh food offering on site.
  • Involved in the preparation, cooking and serving of hot and cold foods, under the direction of management.
  • Contribute to menu planning & development to ensure variety of choice.
  • Ensure that pre-agreed menus are adhered to and planned for.
  • Food ordering from approved suppliers to meet deli requirements.
  • Stock control, dating and stock rotation. Waste control, recording and reduction.
  • Cash handling and balancing of till
  • Ensure that fresh food offered for sale is well presented and of the highest quality at all times.
  • Ensure that deli standards are maintained and improved to meet food safety and hygiene requirements.
  • Ensure that daily HACCP record sheets are maintained according to requirements.
  • Ensure that food safety operational requirements are maintained at all times.

Personal Requirements

The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes;

  • Flair and passion for cooking
  • Carvery Hot Lunch experience an advantage.
  • Be able to demonstrate flair in fresh food merchandising & presentation.
  • Possess excellent customer service skills.

Flexibility to work midweek and weekends is essential.
