Title: Retail Supervisor
OBJECTIVE: To assist the Retail & Forecourt manager and area manager in the delivery of store targets (both in terms of sales & profitability) through the effective management of store operations and personnel.
SUPERVISORY
• Supervise the activities of the retail sales team daily and ensure necessary tasks are completed to an appropriate level.
• Ensure high-quality and consistent customer service is provided at all times.
• To delegate and communicate effectively with the retail sales team.
• To supervise the effective induction and training of all employees.
• To communicate sales performance to the team.
• Assist the store manager in the recruitment of high caliber retail sales assistants.
• Assist the store manager in the effective management of retail sales team performance.
OPERATIONS
• Ensure store is merchandised in a customer-friendly and competitive manner ensuring compliance with company procedures and guidelines.
• Ensure housekeeping in the store is maintained at an optimum level.
• Co-ordinate in-store sales and promotions.
• To communicate with the retail sales team regarding in-store sales and promotions.
• To ensure the appropriate cash register and cash handling policy is adhered to.
• To ensure shelf-edged labels are updated every week.
• To react to local market trends and competition in an appropriate manner.
• To ensure customers receive high-quality and consistent service at all times.
• To deal with and rectify customer complaints effectively and pleasantly.
• To proactively take necessary action in store improvements following customer complaints.
STOCK MANAGEMENT
• To assist the manager in preparations for stock take and supervise where appropriate.
• Assist the manager in minimising stock loss through wastage, damages, and pilferage.
• Ensure food management and waste systems are adhered to by the retail sales team.
• Check stock to ensure adequate stock is available for customer’s needs.
• Ensure stock is rotated appropriately to ensure in-date stock is available and to minimise waste through out-of-date stock.
LEGISLATION & SECURITY
• To ensure secure opening and closing procedures with the store manager.
• To assist the manager as appropriate in matters relating to managing staff ensuring compliance with Labour Law, HACCP, Health & Safety, and Consumer Legislation.
• To ensure potential hazards in the store are identified and reduced or where possible removed/eliminated.
• Work with the Store Manager to ensure Health & Safety checks are conducted and actioned accordingly.
OFFICE
• Ensure that cash is counted correctly daily and lodgments are prepared for Securicor to pick up
• Ensure accurate floats are prepared daily
• Ensure Money is lodged in the ATM
• Ensure Reports as requested by the Head Office accountant are completed properly in the shop daily and weekly
• Ensure Reports are submitted to the Head office either on a daily or weekly basis.
• Ensure Delivery Dockets are booked daily onto the CBE system
• Ensure Stock takes of key lines are completed, daily or weekly and as requested by Head Office
Accountant
• Responsible for organizing the monthly stock count
• Responsible for completing Rota in conjunction with the Retail Manager and ensuring that wage report sent to Galway are correct every week
• Ensuring that all transfer dockets that impact the shop are correct
• Making Newspaper and Magazine returns
• Following up on short deliveries/credit notes
• Ensuring all filing is kept up-to-date
• Helping on the Shop Floor
• Ordering Coin for the Shop
• Ad hoc duties at the request of the Head Office or the Retail Manager/Area Manager
• Flexibility is required to assist at tills during peak and busy times.

CHALLENGES:
1. Maintaining strong quality control standards, working with the General Manager to achieve sales and profits, through managing people of diverse backgrounds and experiences.
2. Significant upgrading of management quality, skill level, and self-sufficiency
3. Working with fellow management & staff to build positive interpersonal relationships and motivate with frequent personal contact.
4. Working with the General Manager to drive turnover down at both the salaried manager and crew level
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Fast-paced, “non-stop” environment. Physically demanding at times due to certain requirements of the business with regards to the level of business, quality of staff, quantity of staff, preparedness for business demands, etc. Certain business volumes necessitate prolonged periods without sitting down.
