Food Safety Officer

We are now recruiting a Food Safety Officer to join the Supermac’s Group based in Head Office, Ballybrit, Co. Galway.

Please note: The position is based in Galway, and candidates must be located here or willing to relocate.

Requirements:

• A Food Science or Quality Assurance qualification is essential.
• HACCP certification (Level 3 or 4) or experience in Internal Auditing is a plus.
• Previous experience in a food-related role (preferably in quick service restaurants, food production, or retail)
• Knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety regulations in Ireland.
• Experience in managing food safety incidents and corrective actions.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Excel and PowerPoint).
• Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
• Ability to manage multiple sites and handle urgent issues.
• Full clean driving license (essential for multi-site visits).
• Flexibility to work independently and as part of a team.

Main Responsibilities:

• Review and update of the Food Safety Management systems for Supermac’s, Papa John’s, Supersub’s, Macs Place Deli, and SO Hotel Group.
• Deal with, investigate, and close off food safety and food quality customer complaints that arise at the store level.
• Provide support, advice, training & assistance to shop Management Teams as required.
• Investigate incidents that may occur at the store level and support our in-house legal Department in compiling investigation reports, etc.
• Deal with the HSE – Environmental Health inspectors (EHOs) for each County, develop working relationships with EHOs, deal with and follow up on inspection letters for the outlets, and provide the required information to EHOs as requested.
• Oversee the in-house QSC online auditing system, conduct unannounced QSC Food Safety & Hygiene Audits on the outlets, and give necessary feedback to the outlets.
• Provide information through meetings and presentations to Senior Management on Quarterly Store QSC performance, complaint overview, and analysis, etc.
• Monitor and coordinate food safety training requirements at the store level for staff and Managers.
• Compile and oversee the annual Micro sampling program to ensure that food and water meet the required safety and hygiene standards.
• Provide test results and information as required on water analysis to County Councils and EHOs.
• Oversee allergen risk assessments for the sites, ensuring that the relevant allergen training is provided and that the correct information is made available to customers.
• Deal with the annual Papa John's International auditor for the QCC Dough Making facility.
• Support store operations on food quality measures to ensure that the necessary procedures and protocols are being followed in the store to ensure that the highest quality fresh food is served.
• Deal with supplier issues from a quality and food safety point of view, carry out supplier audits as required, and compile approved supplier lists.
• Provide the necessary food safety documentation to the stores, such as shelf-life charts, allergen charts, approved supplier lists, label information, etc.
• Oversee the pest control program for the various outlets and work with the pest control providers to ensure that preventative measures are in place.
