Major Jobs Announcement for County Clare
New Motorway Service Station to create 100 New Jobs
In a major jobs announcement for County Clare Supermac’s today stated that the company has acquired a site on the M18 Motorway and is about to lodge an application for planning permission with Clare County Council for the development of a full Motorway Services Area. The site is located at Junction 12 on the Limerick to Galway Motorway. The Managing Director of Supermac’s Ireland Pat McDonagh said the company is delighted that the economic boost generated by the provision of 100 new permanent jobs as well as additional seasonal jobs is coming to County Clare. A further 75 jobs will be created in construction over a twelve month period.
Speaking at the announcement Mr McDonagh said “Supermac’s has enjoyed a most positive neighbourly relationship with The Banner County over thirty years of Business and Sport. This plaza development will be the flagship of the company’s operations in the County for decades to come. Clare people are among the greatest patrons of the company’s Barack Obama Plaza at Moneygall and I am delighted that the prosperity which motorway developments bring to local areas when properly harnessed is coming to Clare.”
“I believe that modern road infrastructures need to be utilised by communities for their additionality and the planned development in Clare will be a leader in that strategy” continues Mr. McDonagh. “Services provided by the plaza are vital to the future economic prosperity of the area not only in direct employment but in building on the whole range of benefits which improved transport infrastructure brings to a County. We plan to include a tourist information point in the plaza with a view to supporting tourism marketing in the County, extending visitor stays and promoting County destinations. I greatly admire what has been achieved in the Wild Atlantic Way promotion model and the Plaza will further facilitate the marketing strategies of this initiative and Shannon Airport which is vital itself to the whole Western Seaboard.”
Mr. McDonagh also said that the company has served over 600,000 customers at the Barack Obama Plaza in Moneygall since opening over the May Bank Holiday Weekend. “The feedback and experiences of both locals and visitors has been extremely positive and we are looking forward to bringing a similar lift to business in Clare.”
“With an increased number of motorists on the roads and the extension of the M18 starting from Gort to Tuam alongside the now brighter future for Shannon Airport and extending over time to future development of the Estuary, business should progress well in the Clare Region.”
Mr McDonagh also confirmed that the emphasis of the Plaza will be on buying local and employing local. “This was our promise to the community in Moneygall and we are delighted that the development there has become as native as any member of the community” Mr. McDonagh concluded.
