Supermac’s to sponsor An Fleadh Cheoil in Ennis

Supermac’s Ireland is proud to announce its 2nd year of sponsorship of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, Inis.  The deal will see the well-known food company continue as a gold sponsor, contributing a six-figure sum towards the organisation of what promises to be one of the festival highlights of the year.

Speaking at the launch Pat McDonagh, Supermac’s Founder said “This is our 2nd year sponsoring An Fleadh Cheoil here in Ennis and I would like to acknowledge the organisation and hard work that was done by the committee and the sense of enjoyment felt by the Fleadh public. We are delighted to be on board again this year as a gold sponsor. An Fleadh is a very natural fit for us. We are a 100% Irish brand, working with over 250 Irish suppliers.  We have strong ties with sports and music throughout our history and, as a company that was born here in the West, we are delighted to be able to engage with such a huge event as An Fleadh Cheoil.  Like last year, I have no doubt that An Fleadh will have huge benefits for not only the county but for the entire region.”

Supermac’s is one of Ireland’s largest indigenous quick service restaurant chains.  It was founded in 1978 by Pat McDonagh, a Galway native, when he opened the very first outlet on Main Street, Ballinasloe. The franchise currently has over 100 outlets across the Republic and Northern Ireland, including Ennis, Shannon and Scarrif in County Clare.  Three decades ago, Supermac’s made its first venture outside of County Galway by opening an outlet on O’Connell St in Ennis.

“Opening in Ennis was one of the key stepping stones in Supermac’s becoming a national brand, and we have always had a loyal customer base from the whole of County Clare,” Mr McDonagh said.

Frank Whelan, Chairman of the Fleadh Executive Committee in Ennis has commended Supermac’s sponsorship of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann for the second year running. “As the largest traditional Irish music festival in the country, we require huge resources to host the event to the highest standards of professionalism and safety without losing sight of the music and the fun. Supermac’s has had a strong presence in Ennis over many years and its support of many community and voluntary activities hasn’t gone unnoticed and is much valued,’ he said.

Ard Stiúrthóir, Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann, Labhrás O’Murchú said “Supermac’s is a national brand and a very large family-owned company. Under the practical down-to earth leadership of Pat McDonagh, his business interests are widening within and outside of the country. It is a measure of the man that he still sees fit to back local communities and support all that is good in sport and culture in this country. We are especially grateful in the organisation that Supermac’s has chosen Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann as a worthy brand to support and allow the nine-day event to become even more ambitious and successful while retaining the heart of what it’s all about, the music, song, dance and language of the people,’ he said
