Supermac’s announces first 100% fresh Irish 5oz Beef Burger

We are proud to introduce our  first 100% fresh meat Irish 5oz Beef Burger which will also be the first fresh meat burger available in a quick service food chain in Ireland.  Our family restaurant chain are delighted to launch the innovation in conjunction with a further announcement on our annual commitment to Irish Farmers now reaching in excess of €20 million per annum, increased in part due to the creation of the 100% fresh Irish 5oz Beef Burger.  Managing Director of Supermac’s Pat McDonagh was joined at the launch of the fresh burger and Supermac’s announcement of our support for Irish Farmers at the Tullamore Show today by Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Simon Coveney and Irish Farmers’ Association President Eddie Downey.

Supermac’s spend with Irish Farmers’ spans across a wide range of producers including beef, chicken, dairy and vegetables.  Supermac’s is a member of both the IFA and the Irish Grassland Association and regularly features at key agricultural shows including the National Ploughing Championships, The Tullamore Show and Teagasc Open Days.

Speaking at the launch Mr. McDonagh says “we are most excited by the introduction of the Supermac’s fresh 100% Irish 5oz Beef Burger.  We are using fresh premium cuts of Irish Beef, which are never frozen and the burger is cooked to order every time.  We have overcome all potential challenges which serving a fresh beef burger in prime condition to customers could possibly present.  The feedback on the product which has been piloted in a number of restaurants ahead of its nationwide roll out over the past few weeks has been extremely positive.”

“We are committed to continuing our ongoing support of Irish Farmers which goes back to when we opened the doors of our first Supermac’s restaurant in Ballinasloe in 1978” continues Mr. McDonagh.  “This is something that has remained a constant in Supermac’s over the years.  We have some of the best quality grass fed beef on this island and I’m extremely proud to serve it in each of our restaurants.  The quality of the produce we carefully prepare for the 320,000 customers who walk through the doors of Supermac’s restaurants every week is imperative to us.”

Speaking at the announcement Minister for Agriculture, Food and the Marine Simon Coveney says “This announcement by Supermac’s is a very welcome development for Irish farmers and the beef industry as a whole. Supermac’s have a long and successful background in the food business and are a great indigenous food story. This is a fantastic example of innovation and product development. It is a very strong endorsement of the quality of Irish beef and the very high standards present on Irish farms.”

Supermac’s is currently in the process of opening eight new restaurants throughout Ireland as part of its 2015 plans for growth. New locations include Tipperary Town Plaza, Drogheda, Clonshaugh and Ballacolla while plans have been submitted for a key motorway service development on the M18. The business is involved in over 100 community initiatives and sponsorships around Ireland.
